Jackie L. A. Portsmouth
Jackie Portsmouth has over 20 years of experience in the international oil & gas industry specializing in the field of Geomatics. Jackies ability to integrate technical survey objectives with practical and cost effective solutions has brought him recognition as an innovative leader in his field. Over the years he has consistently delivered strong technical and business results to the planning, budgeting, and organization of projects worldwide. Jackie has been adept at creating rapport and long term relationships with co-workers of different cultural backgrounds ensuring projects are completed successfully. Jackie is a team player and can be counted on to fit in well with a multi-disciplined project team.
Jackie’s work experience includes 17 years with Canadian Superior Oil Co. and Mobil Oil Corporation in Canada, the U.S., Indonesia and various countries in South America, North Africa, Middle East, and the former Soviet Union. His experience includes: managing large 2D and 3D seismic survey projects; performing and supervising all types of GPS surveys (establishing geodetic control, real time positioning, etc.) for locating oil & gas wells, seismic surveys and pipeline construction; integrating remote sensing technologies (satellite imagery, digital air photography, and airborne scanning laser) for various project applications; developing survey processing software for 2D and 3D land seismic surveys; and deriving all types of geodetic datum calculations/transformations.
Jackie is an active member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (CSEG), American Congress of Survey and Mapping (ACSM), Institute of Navigation (ION), and Alberta Geomatics Group (AGG). He is also actively involved in the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers. Jackie has written geomatic specification and procedure manuals for both internal company and general industry uses, as well as authored articles for technical journals in his field. Jackie attended the Northern Institute of Technology (N.A.I.T) in Edmonton Alberta specializing in petroleum land surveying. He has kept abreast of the latest geomatics technological developments through continuous education and subsequent field applications.
