John Brigden
John Brigden
has been active in the offshore exploration and production industry for 30 years primarily involved in planning and quality monitoring of field operations. Assignments have taken him to almost all continents to supervise a variety of projects that have included multi-vessel and multi-streamer marine 3D seismic surveys, bottom cable 3D & 4D seismic surveys, drilling unit positioning, production template placement, pre-drilling and pre-production wellsite and pipeline investigations. He was initially employed by Geophysical Service Inc. and later by Petro-Canada which gave him an appreciation of both the contractor and operator sides of the industry. While his particular speciality is geodesy, he has a very good understanding of the fundamentals of seismic acquisition and how it fits within the exploration and production development process.
John studied land surveying at the North East London Polytechnic and took the professional examinations of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He was granted a Canada Lands Surveyor’s Commission in 1982. He holds memberships in; The Association of Canada Lands Surveyors - where he is a member of their Offshore Issues Committee, The Canadian Institute of Geomatics, The Canadian Hydrographic Association and The Hydrographic Society of the UK.
